Motivation of KG Students

Motivation is a key  element in education because it pushes children to work hard and be more productive. Every teacher must know how to motivate her students and implant in them the love of learning. Once this step is achieved successfully, nothing would stop students from learning more and more. What I mainly work on with my KG students is motivating them intrinsically with some extrinsic pushes because when they have the passion of learning they'll be pushed to learn without caring to get any rewards for that. Their only reward will be success. I have a student who was obliged to come to school with zero motivation. I tried to motivate him extrinsically through giving him a sticker for any simple positive action that he does. This worked well with him but for a short period of time. That's why I thought of how I have to keep him working always without feeling demotivated and here comes  the importance of intrinsically motivating students through believing in their abilities and giving them high expectations.

  1. Great! Motivation is one of the keys to success, especially in education domain, and this is one of the important jobs that the teacher should do in her class. Motivation has a great impact in students abilities to learn, once they are motivated, all of their behavior and scores will be changed, if believed or not, I think that motivation as you said is very important for the students

  2. I totally agree with you, motivation directs students' behavior toward their goals, enhances cognitive processing and affect learning and achievement.

  3. while motivation is a key element in student's education, it's important to know that it can be devastating when it's overly used, specially the one that comes with a reward students tend to forget that knowledge is what they're after and lose track of their goal, it's good to help students get their priorities straight.

  4. Yes, motivation is an important key to push students to give more and be more productive, however, the over use of motivation in our classrooms will prevent students from processing unless they are given something in return. So, teacher should know how and when to motivate her students.

  5. Experience fills the gap. You won't be able to manage a class with diverse students unless you encounter several problems and situation. Do not give up, keep trying with different methods in communicating till you find the right path to follow.
