My Conversation With a Native Visitor
Last week a native visitor came to our school , so I had a short conversation with him. He told me that in US they don't teach grammar and they have a minimal focus on the rules of the language. What they mainly care about is having students learn the language for real life communication and the purpose of this communication is to deliver the right meaning regardless of being 100% accurate. His view grabbed my attention and I felt like this is what the language should serve because focusing on real life communication is essential. This doesn't mean that we have to deny the importance of teaching the linguistic items and rules of the language, but we have to help students communicate via the language at their beginning levels with more attention to the rules in the more advanced ones.

This is why nowadays we are stressing on having authentic materials for our students. The problem is that our societies used to cherish reading and writing and neglect listening and speaking! The positive thing in our reality is that we are aware of the importance of all skills equally so we started giving the needed attention.
